ARNOLD, RUSSELL G., 80, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on January 11, 2014 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Louisville, KY, he graduated with honors from DuPont Manual High School and the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy, and was a member of Rho Chi and Kappa Phi.
An Army veteran at Fort Sam Houston, Tx. He worked as a pharmacist at Eli Lilly, Amerisource and was the owner/operator of Middletown Apothecary with his friend James Kaelin. He was a member of the Jefferson County Academy of Pharmacy, Middletown Optimist Club and Midland Trail Golf Club. He was an avid golfer, a talented artist and humorous person.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara J. Arnold; sons, Mark (Sharon), Craig (Mariann) and David (Eva); sister, Helen Hestand (Cecil); six grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Jacob, Mason, Rebekah and Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday 2-4 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 4 p.m. at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd. East Louisville.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Animal Care Society, 12207 Westport Rd. Louisville, KY or Alzheimer's Association Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana, 6100 Dutchmans Lane Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205.

He was a part of my life for a short time but he and his family have always been in my thoughts and now in my prayers. May God bless you and keep you.

russ and i were drafed together on november 5,1956. we went thru basic training together at fort benning ga. russ went on to texas and i went to korea for 16 months. russ was a great person and i am proud to have been with in the army.

As a young mother with a sick child, I could always depend on Mr. Arnold for a quick fill and delivery of a prescription. Then I could even charge it to their house account. He and his partner always were kind and willing to give free advice. Such a kind and generous man. So sorry for your loss.

What a wonderful MAN.... I worked with Russ at Amerisource for many years. The best work years of my life. Can't say enough good things about him and how much I had learned from him. And many thanks to Barbara. What a amazing woman !!!!!
