After Judy left for work this morning, I reread the emails about Cindie and my thoughts were filled with memories of her with her family. As a powerful sadness came over me I wandered into our bedroom and was drawn to a west facing window, Sadie one of our golden retrievers sat at my feet. The sky was reflecting the dawning of a clear cold morning. There low on the horizon a full moon was shining down through a few thin streaky clouds onto the rolling Iowa hills covered with deep and drifted icy snow. That pastoral scene formed the thought in my mind – “Cindie would have framed and captured that scene with her camera and froze it for all of us to enjoy!” And as I watched for a few minutes the moon slide behind a thin dark line of cloud and reemerged, it looked for all the world as if God had blinked away a tear in sorrow at our loss of Cindie.
