Donald Bearden Obituary
Spring Hill, FL
Donald "Doc" Bearden, age 83 passed away September 21, 2016 in Spring Hill, Florida.
Don was born in Watertown, New York. He was named all-American in basketball in High School and College. He joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served during the Korean War as a flight instructor. After the war, Don enrolled in the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1963, and practiced family medicine in Lansing, Michigan for over 20 years. In 1984, Don became Vice President and Medical Director of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and later Medical Director of the Accident Fund Insurance Co. of America. After retiring in 2013, he moved with his wife, Jackie, to the Timber Pines community in Spring Hill, Florida. Don was an avid golfer, a loving husband and a devoted father who enjoyed learning about the latest advances in anti-aging medicine.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie, Four children, Donald (Patti) Bearden of Alpharetta, GA; Anne (David) Simonson of Reston, VA; Jim (Geri) Bearden of Bay Shore, NY; and Alison Arambula of East Lansing, MI and six grandchildren, Maura, Alyssa, Rees, Julia, Eva, and Maricia.
A celebration of Don's life will take place at the Mayfair Bar, 1525 Lake Lansing Road, Haslett, MI on Saturday October 22, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visit www.nationalcremation.com/location/hudson to leave a message for the family. MSU attire recommended.
