Norm Parker...a great man and a great coach. I had the honor of being a teammate of Norm's at Eastern Michigan University and the privilege of coaching with him at St. John's High School in Ypsilanti. Norm was an outstanding leader, even at a young age. We had some special athletes to coach and Norm never let the rest of the coaches forget how fortunate we were to be coaching these great kids. Norm was always proud of his time at St. John's High School. It served as a launch to an amazing career. Hundreds of young men are better people because of their time with Norm Parker. Thank you, Coach, rest in peace...you are most deserving.

Norman Parker

A person that was timeless. He was always there for whoever needed help. The good times we had will always be in the memories of myself and my boys. They still often talk of the time they were able to spend with Jeff.
May he rest in peace and God Bless his family and friends.

I, like many others from St. John's will have great memories of "Mr. Parker" or "Coach Parker"! He coached a couple of my older brothers, but he was my 7th grade teacher at St. John's elementary! Among the many memories, several of my fellow classmates helped him to move his household and were treated to all you can eat pizza. But the biggest memory was he and the A.D., George Beaudette, at the end of the football season, as a kind of reward, took the 4, 7th grade "ball boys" for the Varsity team that year (Short, Koch, Sutton and Ennen) to watch the high school football game of Massillon, Ohio Tigers vs Warren Harding Panthers, in Massillon! We followed his coaching career from his beginnings in Ypsilanti, to the last in Iowa. Coach, you left a wonderful lasting impression on all who knew you, and you will always be a legend in our hearts! Our Prayers and condolences to the Parker family.

I was probably the least favorite and biggest disappointment to Coach Parkers career. I knew him at St.John's. But, the most important thing he taught me and that I have carried all of my life is to never quit or give up. That lesson has benefitted me and impressed others and I owe it all to him. I was responcible for him splitting his pants in Dexter at a basketball scrimmage my sophomore year he joked and laughed about it on the bus on the way home. I had the privilege of being taught typing by his late wife. And the year after he left St. John's he sent word through her that I had played a good game the weekend before and that meant the world to me. He will be missed my prayers go out to his family.

What made Coach Parker so special was the fact that you "knew" that he "knew" that you could do it (whether "it" was, running, throwing, hiking, blocking, tackling). And the reason you knew that he knew was the twinkle in his eye when he told you that he knew you could do it. And "knowing" turns into believing. Does that make sense. I for one, and I'm sure all of the athletes and cheerleaders from St. John's High School, will never forget Coach Parker. I'm forever grateful I "knew" him. RIP Coach.

I was lucky enough to work with both Norm and Jeffery in the Iowa Football Office when I was a college student (1999-2002). What a joy both of these men were to be around. Norm was always happy and smiling. He would never fail to spend a few minutes with you uncovering something new in your life. What a huge loss this is. I'll always have great memories of Norm, Jeffery and their special bond that I was lucky enough to experience.

My mother and Norm went to Hazel Park HS. I met Norm the summer before my freshman year at Michigan State at a class reunion. Norm spent 2 hours talking to me about MSU football and how I made the right decision to attend the University. I only spoke with him for those short couple of hours but have never forgotten that experience. It was 28 years ago
