Alvie Helstrom LUBBOCK- Alvie Gene Helstrom departed this life on Saturday, February 9, 2013. He was born in Hughes Springs, Texas on September 13, 1937 to Stroud Leroy and Edith Helstrom. He had one brother, Gerald of Bedford, Texas. He served in the United States Army from December 1961 to January 1962 after serving overseas in Germany. He married his wife, Barbara, of 30 years on September 20, 1982. He worked numerous years for Norton Drilling before his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Steve and Sonyia Helstrom, Michelle Denham, Donnie, Curtis, Leslie, and Paige Miller Cadenhead; 13 grandchildren, Dawna Helstrom Hennesay, the late Daniel Shipley, Keely Helstrom Portillo, Billy Denham, Jessica Prescott, Ryan Sharpe, John and Ezra Strickland, Cheyanne, Bebe, Jackson, Vivian, and Caroline Miller; and five great-grandchildren, Kyler Villarreal, Melody, Presley, and Xander Prescott as well as Keegan Sharpe. Along with family, he is survived by his late schnauzer, Kojak. His lifelong passions were hunting and fishing at Oak Creek Lake.
