Dr. Hartman was one of the deans of the School of Medicine who helped make the school what it is today. His dedication to west Texas and the healthcare needs of its citizens led to some innovations that are lasting today. I regret learning of his passing and our loss.

Cut his 'teeth driving a tank...' (literally)
The Highest Qualities in a Physician...
The Highest Qualities in a Surgeon...
The most loving of a Family Man...
He was one of our Dean(s) at the Medical School in the Formative Years.
Taught us respect by being respectful.

We shall miss him so...

Dr. Hartman was a wonderful, soft spoken and brilliant physician and educator. He and Dr. Seliger, Chief of Anatomy, interviewed me for Med school at TTUSM in 1971 for the first class to complete all training at TTUSM, Class of 75. When I returned after training in Cardiac, Thoracic, & Vascular Surgery he was Dean of the Med school. I am saddened to hear of his passing as he was a fantastic mentor, friend, and role model and his consummate professionalism and quiet demeanor will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family

Oh, Jean, Martha, Tom and Jim,
I have had Ted in my thoughts the last few months. I knew him as a quiet humble and unassuming man from the early days in Lubbock until we moved to Virginia in 2006. I remember sharing so much in George's room the night George passed away. He and your family hold special thoughts and memories for me. Judy and I send our deepest condolences.
