I really like this man, he used to come into the bank and we would talk about fly fishing. One of a kind!

My Dad Stanton Rhea got me a job at
John Halsey's Drug store in 1949. That was the first job I ever had. I loved it. I met John while I was working there. So sorry for your loss.

All my memories of this man and his store were filled with happiness. God Bless his soul and prayers to his family.

I never met John, but the Halsey Drug Stores were a Lubbock institution. I always thought the term "drug store cowboys" originated when a country band played at the downtown, Broadway Halsey Drug Store and put on a radio program there. I believe two of its stars were Wiley Walker and Gene Sullivan, authors of "Blue Moon Over my Shoulder."

I am so very sorry for your loss. My husband (Dr Tom Clemmons) and I socialized with him on numerous occasions and he was an exceptional man and person.. Many prayers for your loss!
