Wendell, Kirby, Kate, Kari and Kelly - so sorry for your loss. My heart sinks considering how gracious your mom was in being my mom at many rough times in my young life. The tremendous memories I have are indelible and I will always have a special place in my heart and mind for Joyce. Such a special lady, mother, matriarch, mentor and friend.

Mrs. Donahoo hired me as a UNLV student to assist the late Dr. Thorn Butler (a UMC pathologist) in his Toxicology research. I will be forever grateful to Joyce for giving me the first opportunity in Clinical Laboratory Medicine. After first being hired on paper, (from the merits of an application) by another facility, and later being offered a less professionally rewarding position; I went to UMC for an interview with Joyce, who was the Chief Medical Technologist at that time. She always showed the utmost of respect and fairness to everyone. We will miss her genuine care and concern for all those she encountered.

To: Wendell, Katey, Carrie and Kelly: condolences from the entire Soloway family. Joyce was a wonderful lady. I was privileged to have had the opportunity to know her and work with her. Her untimely death is a sign that each of us is getting older.
