I miss you so much, my dear friend. I still find it hard to believe you're gone.

April 19, 2013

Dear Bob and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time ... Emily Dickensen penned it best when she wrote: "Parting is all we KNOW of heaven and all we NEED of hell."
One of the most comforting thoughts is that "To live in the hearts of those we love is to never die." And Connie will never die because she was so loved by you her family and by all of those who came to know her as we journeyed through part of our life with her. Always a smile ... always ready to help wherever she was needed ... never a complaint about the cross our Lord gave her to bear. Indeed, she was a Christ light to us all ... And we thank God for letting us come to know her ...
May God's peace be with all of you as you go through the pain-filled journey of grief...
Prayers and love,
Monica and Mike Caffarella

I was very lucky having my mom as my mom. Growing up I would listen to others complain about their parents and while I could listen to them I truly could not relate to what the were saying. My mom (and dad) were always putting us kids first, supporting and encouraging us in all we chose to do. She allowed us to make our own decision and learn from our own mistakes, then when we made those mistakes she was there to encourage us and support us as we got through it. Sometimes it was the small things like making 3 separate meals every night just to accommodate her finicky kids. Other times it was the big things like encouraging me to go to cosmetology school instead of college. She was even my guinea pig and model for my state exam.

My mom was more than a mom though, she was my dad's best friend and wife. She fell in love with him when she was 13 years old and has never waive red in that love and never will. She was an inspiration to me and others with her selflessness and her pure heart. She was also a great friend to many including me. She was always there to listen as we'll as make me laugh. I have so many great memories of the fun I had with my mom, I could write a book. I would like to share 2 stories though. The first was when my family all met at Disneyland for my niece's 3rd birthday. My mom was very quick witted and always like to joke and laugh. so when we saw paramedics walking past the Matterhorn we started joking how the Matterhorn was closed because someone died on it....by the end of the day we were in a restroom at our hotel and we heard some women gossiping and saying "did you hear someone died on the Matterhorn today and that is why it was closed" we both started laughing and walked out of the restroom. The next morning we were in the lobby and a dredge dive driving class was going on in one of the conference rooms so we walked by them saying things like, so there is supposed to be a place around here where a giant mouse lives and walks around talking to people, I haven't seen it but maybe today we should look for this interesting place (Disneyland was literally right outside our hotel), the people at the drivers class were looking at us like we were idiots but we just laughed and kept walking. That night I drove home and had a message on my answering machine from my mom, she was laughing and said so did you hear that someone died on the Matterhorn at the place were the giant mouse lives. I still smile and laugh about that.

A few years ago my mom and I took a girls weekend to New York. We spent 3 days walking all over manhattan without a plan, map or care in the world. We laughed and joked the entire time. While taking a double decker bus tour one night (in the freezing October temp) we sat on the top level shivering. As we went over the bridge (either manhattan or Brooklyn I forget which one) we were up so high and in the outer lane, my mom got scared (she really is afraid of heights) and grabbed on to me and ducked her head in my lap until we got off the bridge. The entire time she was laughing and making fun of herself. We had such and amazing time that weekend.

See my mom is/was so much to so many but for me she is everything: a mother, a friend, an inspiration, a humanitarian, a role model and someone I will always be blessed to have come from.

I love you mom!

Bob, Dan & Christine, and Karen: Connie has been a part of my daily prayers since I first heard of her illness. She was so strong and such a fighter with an amazing attitude. One of the finest, most positive people I have ever known. She was so warm and gracious and will truly be missed. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that Connie was loved by so many.

Bob and Family - I didn't know Connie well but enough to say Good Morning! When I picked Cameron and Haley up at 7 a.m. for day-care and then school, we would always stop to say hello to Connie and Riley who were on their morning walk. Rafferty came along, but then kids got big and I didn't pick them up each morning. Cameron, Haley and Chase talked alot about Bob, Connie, Riley and Rafferty. We will miss Connie, and have fond memories :) Helen "Mima" Breeden (Jen's mom)

Dear Bob and your Family
Please accept our deepest sympathies in your time of grief. Anne and I are very sorry to hear about Connie's passing. While only time will help to heal your pain & sorrow, we hope that your remembering of the joy that she brought into your lives rather than her long battle with cancer, will help you all through this painful period. May all of your proud and happy memories over the many years of being with Connie bring you comfort knowing you had such a wonderful wife, best friend, and mother to your children. I can remember when you were dating Connie when we were freshman at S.H. in 1961. Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this very difficult time.
