I have just learned that Barbara passed away. I knew and became friends with her when we worked together at S&A Studios in L.A. She was a fabulous woman. I thought very highly of her as did everyone she worked with. As I now live in Australia, I didn't know of her passing until I checked to see why my email to her bounced. 2 May 2013

Laura and Lee, sorry to learn of Barbara's death. In those far away NYC days, she was sort of the den mother of those of us who lived on W. 95th. She got us to all those interminable Democratic club meetings, always knowing and getting us organized to support the right issues. Barbara was an activist, on many levels, who believed her actions counted.

Our heartfelt condolences to the family.

I first knew Barbara as the mother of her daughters Lee and Laura, who were close neighbourhood friends of mine and my sister. From my earliest memories I can hear her voice always greeting me exuberantly and laughing with my parents and with us. It wasn't until later that I began to appreciate her great intellect and moral sense, and learned of her many achievements. She was a great and positive life force. I'll miss her as will so many of us from the old upper west side neighbourhood.
