Condolences to the family from Jack's Pennsylvania Cousins. my Mother, Peg Dettre Brigham Hontz and I corresponded with Jack in recent years while doing genealogy on the Dettre family. Dear Judy, Jay, Theresa, an family, My thoughts and prayers are with you. Jack was my favorite professor (head, shoulders, and thorax above the second best), a mentor, and friend. He lives on in my heart.

We first met Jack because he sang in our Church choir. He also used his great voice many times in our Performing Arts shows at Anthem. For some years he informally chaired a small discussion group where we were exposed to his dry wit and roving mind. R.I.P.
