I did not know Packy, but I heard many stories about him as an athlete from my father Jim Grant. He often bragged of him in the junior pentathlon. My dad had many 2nd place trophies, he said he could never beat packy. I believe he may have been the western united states champion in the pentathlon. I have read many news paper clippings in regards to his athletic achievements.
