NANCY ROBAR

NANCY ROBAR Nancy Leah Bidamon Robar, 89, of Henderson, passed away March 14, 2015, in her sleep. (She would have enjoyed knowing that it was Pi Day.) Nancy grew up in San Francisco, met and married Robert in northern California, then through his career as a military officer, they traveled and lived throughout the United States including living in Fairbanks, Alaska, Albany, Ga., and New York City, with a tour in Fort Churchill, Canada. Nancy and her husband moved to Las Vegas in 1968, where she taught first grade at Lincoln Elementary, J. M. Ullom Elementary and finished her teaching career of nearly 40 years at Doris French Elementary. While teaching, she obtained a masters in special education. After retiring from teaching, she enjoyed going back to the school on a part-time volunteer basis to tutor children and substitute. She traveled the world, going to China, twice to Africa, taking cruises up the St. Lawrence and through the Panama Canal with her husband. She also enjoyed taking her Dalmatian to Dog Fanciers' Park, going to Questors meetings, reading and going to Sam's Town with her husband. Nancy had a kind word for everyone. She is well-loved and will be missed. She is survived by her loving husband, of nearly 69 years, Robert; her daughter Robin of northern California; son, Jerome David of Las Vegas; a granddaughter, Laura; and great-granddaughter Harlow, both of San Diego. There will be a celebration of Nancy's life 3-5 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Sam's Town, 5111 Boulder Highway, in Las Vegas. All are invited including her friends who work at Sam's Town. No flowers, please. Nancy would have appreciated a donation made to any animal welfare or rescue group.
