GEORGE DANKO George M. Danko, 86, of Henderson, passed away Jan. 16, 2014, at his place of residence from natural causes. George was born in Toledo, Ohio, to George and Anna Danko. He graduated from Macomber Vocational School, then served during World War II as a naval signalman on the carrier USS Intrepid. He married Helen Wierzchon, and worked as a pattern maker for the Schill Pattern for his entire career. George was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents; his sister, Mary Metzger; and brother, Michael Danko. George is survived by his children, George J. and James M. Danko; grandchildren, Rachael and Eric Danko; and sisters, Betty Heilman, Pearl Quinlin, Helen Jones and Catherine Vaughn; brothers, John and Richard Danko; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Elsa De Los Santos. George will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. George was cremated per his wishes. Interment is pending at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City. Memorial donations may be given to the Intrepid Museum Foundation or to the Former Crew Members Association of the USS Intrepid.
