Rhea Hornbeck added definition to the word "Friend." She had a will and spirit that was unique in this world and she will be very much missed. Although I got to know her a generation off from my mom, Teryl Healy of Santa Rosa, I was blessed at every encounter. They made beautiful music together in the Sonoma County Chorus and seemed to cheer up all around them. When Mrs. Hornbeck and my late mom got together, it was as if they both shed decades and became kids again. It was delightful (and sometimes a bit frightening) to see. After all . . . Parents shouldn't act like that :-)

I had the utmost respect for her as a fellow US Marine, especially at a time when that was so very uncommon, and especially in a leadership position.

May you bring smiles to heaven and your friends who preceded you. I am sure that you are driving your sports car again and breaking barriers like always. Your spirit on earth will be missed. Peace be with you and your family. Semper Fi! Kevin
