ALISA GOLDSTEIN Alisa Dawn Goldstein, age 42, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013. Alisa was born April 6, 1970, to the late Morton Goldstein and Dolores (Jaffe) Goldstein, in Sunrise Hospital. Alisa was struck by a car in 1975, an incident which would change the course of her life. In a coma for 25 days, her survival was a miracle and she was deemed, "The Miracle of Sunrise Hospital" by Mr. Nate Adelson. Alisa loved life and her attitude was infectious. She loved art, music and dance. She was spiritual, she loved God and she was very, very, funny. Alisa struggled with physical challenges and a brain injury which significantly impacted her short-term memory. Yet, she refused to let these challenges hold her back. If she forgot your name she simply gave you a new one. She became an amazing artist and was honored for her work by the Nevada Special Olympics at a gala affair. She was an amazing piano player who never took a lesson. She could hear a song one time and play it back perfectly. She loved everybody. Alisa is survived by her mother, Dolores Goldstein of Las Vegas; sister, Laurie (Tracy) Krauthamer of Lake Oswego, Ore.; stepmother, Janet Goldstein; nephews, Jordan, Jared and Josiah Krauthamer of Lake Oswego; uncles, Hal Goldstein of Northridge, Calif., and Ronnie (Louise) Jaffe of Hilo, Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her father, Mort Goldstein; grandparents, Mike and Sylvia Jaffe and Jack and Gusta Goldstein; and uncle, Eddie Jaffe. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas. Donations in Alisa's memory may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or Lupus of Nevada.

Alisa is on my mind day and night. When I look at a star I look for the one that is bright. Her smile is the most special and I know that it is right. Her hugs warm my heart and soul plus brings my life to last forever until the end of The night.

Dear Dolores; I am so sorry to hear of Alisa's passing. I met you both when I came to your house to do her evaluation for the PCA program. I still have the picture of the Star of David she made with beads. I remember attending her birthday party a few years ago and you got mad at me (not really mad) for giving her $20.00! Know that I am thinking of you and your (our) great loss to humanity. She is now is Heaven and is surrounding us with her love.

Beautiful Alisa,
You touched so many lives. I have so many fond memories of you. I met your sister, Laurie when I was only 2 years old. I have always felt to be a part of your family. We were one big happy extended family. You will be missed so much. I know that you will always be with us in spirit.
A lady bug landed on me the day after you left us. It sat on my hand, looked at me, fluttered its wings and flew away. I have not seen a lady bug in years. I felt your spirit and that you were saying good-bye. The stars will shine brighter now that you are in heaven.
I Love you,
Laura (Laurie Sue)

I was one of the nurses that took care of Alisa after her accident when she was in Pediatrics at Sunrise. I have never forgotten the little girl with the big smile. I cannot tell you the number of times I have talked about "this amazing little girl" and her fight for recovery. She was very determined and worked very hard to recover. I also remember the support, encouragement and love of her family. I am very sorry for your loss.Cindy Franks Las Vegas, NV
