Lynn Catherine Goodchild, 25, of West Street, Attleboro, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 as a passenger on United Airlines flight #175, enroute from Boston to Los Angeles, that was high jacked by terrorists and crashed into the World Trade Center tower in New York City. Miss Goodchild was traveling with her companion, Shawn Nassaney, of Pawtucket, who also died in the tragedy. Ms. Goodchild’s remains were recently returned to her family for burial.

Born in Attleboro, MA on May 27, 1976, she was the daughter of William C. III and Ellen R. (Reynolds) Goodchild of Attleboro. Miss Goodchild was a lifelong resident of the city of Attleboro and graduate from Attleboro High School in 1994. She received her B.S. degree from Bryant College in Smithfield, RI in 1998 and was working on her master’s degree at Providence College at the time of her death. At Bryant she was the president of the college’s Karate Club during her junior year and served as the club’s vice president during her senior year.

She was employed as a plan administrator for Putnam Investments in Norwood, MA for 3 years prior to her death in 2001.

She enjoyed traveling throughout the world and was enroute to a vacation in Hawaii when the tragedy occurred.

In addition to her parents, she leaves a brother: Neil K. Goodchild of Attleboro; her paternal grandmother: Elizabeth (Daniels) Goodchild of Beverly, MA; her godparents: Cornelius and Eleanor (Dalton) Boermeester of Malden, MA and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was the paternal granddaughter of the late William C. Goodchild, Jr. and was the maternal granddaughter of the late Curtis A. and Catherine F. (Lincoln) Reynolds.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 10:00 AM in St. Mark’s Church, 105 Stanley Street (Exit 5 from 95 N or S, top of exit, take a right, Stanley Street is ½ mile on the right, follow to end of street), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Peter N. Graziano, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.

Following graveside services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of fellowship and reflection at the Tavern from Tower Square, Route One, Plainville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lynn C. Goodchild Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Foxboro Savings Bank, 2 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Lynn Catherine .. Today, 9/9/23, coming on the 22nd year when some extremely bad individuals decided it was OK for them to take your life and the life of others. We will never forget you and all who had their lives changed that day. To Lynn Catherine's family and friends ... Always do good things in the name of Lynn. When you experience something really cool or want to do something nice for others, share this moment with Lynn ... I believe that, if you feel Lynn's presence .. you did ! ......
