Mace, dear friend, dear generous, bright, funny friend, did you know how much you were loved? I pray that you know now.
May each saint in heaven
Each angel in heaven
Stretching their arms for you,
Smoothing the way for you,
When you go there
Over the river hard to see;
Oh when you go there home
Over the river hard to see.
Peace, dear friend

I'm writing from Bangkok Thailand. I met Mace when my World Tour Travels began in January 2000 in Wisconsin. I only spent a few weeks with him but what a man! I think of him still all the time. I'm across the planet and it's been over a month and I'm still sad about it.

When Natty Nation (his neighbor's and my housemates in WI) were gone on tour, Mace would come over with coffee or tea, sometimes wine and cheese. He'd keep me company for hours. He even made a copy of the key to his car for me!!! His philosophy on locks - locks of any kind, have changed me forever.

I feel this loss and have hardly any claim on the man. To Michael and Katie, I say you two are lucky to have known such a man at all, and to be able to call him a father - you must be proud.

I consider myself lucky to have spent a few winter weeks with him. I hope we meet again.

Mace Dog,

How many times a day do I think of you and wish I could call you up to tell you a funny story? Countless, my friend, countless. You meant so much to me, more than I'm sure you ever knew. When you sat beside me while I cried for my father, you reached beyond the definitions of a teacher. You became a friend. A dear friend I will cherish forever. Your friendship, laughter, stories, smiles, and hugs will never be forgotten. I only wish we could have one more beer, one more cigarette, one more dance.

Love Always,
Your Imp =)

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
