Doris E. Niforth

Warner Robins, Georgia- Matriarch, Doris Rigby Niforth, 90, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014.
Doris was born on January 8, 1924 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She worked as a Child Protective Social Worker for Houston County Department of Family and Children Services and retired after 20 years. Doris was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1968 and she served as an Elder Emeritus, Officer of Women of the Church, Circle Chairman, Greeter prior to Sunday morning services, and a member of a singles group known as (VIPs) "Very Important Presbyterians." Doris was an Officer of the Warner Robins Civilian Wives Club of Warner Robins, Military Surviving Spouses, Warner Robins Women's Club, and the Warner Robins Newcomer Club. She was a member of the Sassy Red Hatters, the first to be chartered in Houston County, and Robins Air Force Base Horizon Club-former Officers Club.
Her husband of 42 years, Major Warren M. Niforth US Army (Ret.) (Bud); parents, William Thomas Rigby and Ethyl Leona Best Rigby; and sister Lorraine Rigby Ritchey preceded her in death.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her son, Martin W. Niforth of Canton, Georgia., his companion Penny Swackhamer; daughter, Lynn C. Day of Warner Robins, Georgia; granddaughter, Stephanie Carroll Freund; great-grandchildren, Brandon Sauls, Ashley Pollard, and Megan Tooker; great-great-grandchildren, Chance Pollard, Zayden Tooker, and Halley Pollard; brother Charles W. Rigby of Jennings, Florida; sisters, Bonnie Palat (Stan) of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Eileen Kelly (Frank) of Lamont, Florida.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be in Andersonville National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be directed to the Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.

Thoughts and prayers with the entire family

Doris was such a classy lady and a joy to meet on a daily basis when I worked in the same unit with her at Houston County DFACS. Within the past year, we would meet each other at the nail shop and she was still a classy lady. Such a wonderful person and a fantastic smile. You will be missed "Miss Personality."

So sorry for the loss of such a wonderful lady. I'll never forget meeting her on her 80th birthday...looking so elegant in her red hat and jewelry. Prayers and thoughts to the family during this difficult time.
