Ronald Collins Hoch
July 18, 1942 - February 7, 2014
Warner Robins , Georgia - Ronald Collins Hoch, 71, of Warner Robins, Georgia died on February 7, 2014 after an extended illness. A retired Colonel in the United States Air Force, he lived in Warner Robins with his beloved wife, Judy, for the past 20 years. Ron, the son of Millard and Alice Hoch was born on July 18, 1942 and grew up in Wapwallopen, Pennsylvania with his younger sister, Beverly Kelchner, who now lives in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He received both his bachelors and masters degrees from Pennsylvania State University where he met his wife of 47 years. He was a member of Acacia Fraternity, the Masons and Shriners where he was known for his loyalty and dedication to his brothers. After leaving Penn State, Ron was stationed in Texas where their first child, Amy, was born. He spent a year in Thailand during the Vietnam War and returned home to continue his career as a military officer. His second child, Christopher, was born in California and the family continued travelling to live in such places as Nebraska, Alabama, Virginia, Okinawa, Ohio and ultimately retiring in Georgia after 26 years of service. No matter the state of residence, Ron remained an avid Penn State sports fan attending almost every home football game for the past 30 years. One of his most precious memories was attending Penn State's fantasy football camp and meeting Joe Paterno. It has been said that he bleeds blue and white! Ron was an athlete throughout his life playing football in high school and softball and handball in his later years. Besides his love of sports, Ron loved to spend time outdoors gardening and building furniture in his woodworking hut.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Hoch; his daughter, Amy, and her husband, Chris; his son, Chris, and his wife, Jenny; his sister, Beverly; his adopted son, Judkin, and his wife, Greta, and their daughter, Bethany, to whom he was known as Grampy. In Pennsylvania, he is survived by many loving cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on April 12th, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Heintzelman Funeral Home in State College, Pennsylvania. It will be a perfect tribute to end a Blue-White Game Saturday in Happy Valley!
In lieu of flower, Ron's family would prefer that donations be directed to the Ron Hoch Memorial Fund, established by his Acacia brothers in his honor. Memorial donations should be made payable to Penn State University and be mailed to Ron Hoch Memorial Fund, 1 Old Main, University Park, PA 16802. The fund will benefit the Penn State wrestling program.

This is very late...but we (Lou and Diane McNamara) were very sad to hear of Ron's passing. We met him frequently on our walks in the neighborhood and he was very generous to share his beloved blueberries with me! We miss seeing him around, our condolences, Judy...he was a very good man.

I knew Ron from sitting in the Club at Penn State football games. We always talked about N.E. PA because that is where I am from also. I am so sorry for your loss. He sure was a gentlemen and friend. Flo Dougherty, Forty Fort, PA.

Colonel Ron Hoch was a remarkable leader. In my own supervisory responsibilities at Robins
AFB, I tried to incorporate the lessons he taught me through his high regard for all ranks of military and civilians. He was a great role model. I shall surely miss him. May God share many great memories with family and friends during this time.
