The Gulf War was a success in part by the leadership of Sam Hazel and his exceptional men and women of the 172nd, Jackson, MS. I was so lucky to have known Sam and work with him during those trying times. Rest in Peace Ole' Buddy, you will be missed.

I had not seen Sammy in many years but we visited via FB and it was always good to hear what he had to say. He was quietly impactful with his words. He enjoyed his life and adored his family. What a wonderful legacy he left. Rest peacefully my old friend.

My friend and guide through the depot caverns. Sam Hazel was a officer and gentleman . . .but firm and direct when I needed it. Even put up with that active duty guy serving in the ANG Headquarters. God has a "logistician" on staff now! Blessing and peace be with the family in this hour of loss!

God is near to those that are broken at heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. God will sustain you and help you to endure.
