Dr. William "Billy" H. McRae, Sr.

McRae, Georgia- Dr. William Henry "Billy" McRae, Sr., 84, died Friday, August 9. Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Monday, August 12, at McRae United Methodist Church with burial in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.
A native and lifelong resident of McRae, Dr. Billy was the son of the late William Alexander McRae, Jr. and Louisa Norfleet Griffith McRae. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and University of Georgia School of Pharmacy, and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He was also a member of McRae United Methodist Church. Dr. Billy owned and operated the landmark, McRae's Pharmacy, for many years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the National Association of Retail Druggists, the Georgia Pharmaceutical Association, the Rotary Club, and served two terms as mayor of McRae. He was preceded in death by a son, William Henry McRae, Jr.
Survivors include his children, Debbie McRae of Fort Myers, FL, Keith (Pam) McRae of Macon, and Christopher McRae of McRae; daughter-in-law, Maria McRae of Helena; grandchildren, Michael McRae, William McRae, III, Amy Cordero, John McRae, Madison Criswell and Abby McRae; and six great-grandchildren.
