William Edward "Bill" Lambert

Bonaire, GA- William Edward Lambert, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home in Bonaire, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Georgia. Interment will be in Elam Baptist Cemetery, in Jenkins County, Georgia at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The family will receive friends at McCullough Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Lambert, longtime resident of Warner Robins and Bonaire, Georgia, waged a courageous battle to overcome serious medical problems. He is deeply loved and respected by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Gladys Lambert, Hilltonia, Georgia, his sister, Alice Marie Chapel, of Grovetown, Georgia; and his brother, Robert L. "Bobby" Lambert of Hilltonia, Georgia.
Survivors include his beloved and devoted wife of sixty years, Jean Brown Lambert; three daughters, Carol Wojciechowski (Randy) of Summerville, South Carolina; Angie Huff of Marietta, Georgia.; Kim Watson (Van) of Bonaire, Georgia; grandchildren, Heather Huff, Brandon Huff, Haleigh Wojciechowski, Asher Wojciechowski, Luke Watson, Zack Watson; great-granddaughter, Kimberly Huff; sister, Margene Lambert Thompson, and sister in law, Charlotte A. Lambert, both of Sylvania, Georgia.
Born in Screven County, Georgia on April 22, 1930, Mr. Lambert received a B.S. Degree in Industrial Arts from Georgia Southern College, Statesboro, Georgia. Immediately following graduation he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served with distinction in the 5th Infantry Division located in Augsburg, Germany.
His tenure with the Houston County School System began in1956 as a teacher of Industrial Arts at Warner Robins High School. In 1960 he was appointed principal of the new Tabor Jr. High School. He then attended graduate school at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia, where he obtained a Masters Degree in school administration. He continued his post-graduate work at the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, receiving a VE- 6 year and A 5-6 year certification in Vocational Education and Administration. In 1970, Mr. Lambert was appointed director of Vocational Education for Houston County Schools and remained in the field of Vocational Education until retirement in 1987. During his service in Houston County, he has been the recipient of many honors on the local, state, and national level.
One of his proudest moments in his career came in 1978-79 when he was chosen by his peers as the "Outstanding Vocational Educator, State of Georgia". Mr. Lambert contributed to the Houston County area in many ways during his lifetime. One of his primary commitments was to his church. He transferred his membership in 1957 from his home church to First Baptist Church shortly after he and his family moved to Warner Robins, Georgia. During the next thirty-three years he served as a Sunday School Teacher, an ordained deacon, chairman of House and Grounds for many years, Director of Brotherhood and Personnel Committee. He was a current member of Central Baptist Church.
His civic activities included the Noon Optimist Club where he was honored as a Distinguished President, awarded a lifetime membership in Optimist International; presented Life membership in United Giver's Fund; served as the first Arts and Crafts Director for City of Warner Robins; and was presented the Outstanding Leadership for his service as State President of the Georgia Association of Local Administrators.

I'm glad I had the pleasure of meeting him and be able to sit and talk with him, he always had something instresting to talk about. He loved you as well as his girls and grandchildren. Mrs.Jean Lambert and Family. I am sorry to hear about Mr. Lambert. May God Bless you and watch overyou during thse hard times. Rest Eternal Grant to him, OLord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God Rest In Peace. Amen. I was in the group of first students to attend Tabor JR.. I was in the Eight grade the first year and the second year Tabor had ninth, Eight and Seven grades. Mr Lambert looked out for all of us.
