SMITHFIELD - Henry M. Glover, D.O. died unexpectedly on Jan. 13, 2018.
Henry was born in Woodbury, N.J. on March 26, 1955. He grew up in Mullica Hill, N.J. graduating from Clearview High School, where he played on the varsity basketball team. Henry was an avid antique bottle collector. As a teenager he loved water skiing during summers in Avalon with his buddies.
Following graduation, he attended and graduated from Rutgers University. He then attended and graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received numerous awards for academic excellence. During that time, he met his future wife, Michelle Coxen, RN. Henry then completed his internship at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa. After that he and Michelle moved to Maine where he completed his residency at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital.
Together Henry and Michelle opened their practice in Oakland in 1984 where he remained until his death. Henry practiced medicine for 35 years. During that time, he received numerous awards for excellence in medicine including, the Young Physician of the Year and Central Maine's Physician of the Year. He served on numerous state and hospital boards. He will be missed in our community.
He was married to his wife Michelle Coxen-Glover for 30 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, skiing, and body surfing.
Henry was an avid outdoorsman, lover of animals and a Philadelphia Sports fan ("Cowboys suck, Go Eagles!"). Henry attended many Philadelphia sporting events including watching the Philadelphia Flyers win the Stanley Cup. Above all Henry was a family man. He was especially proud of his daughter Abigail who recently graduated from Stetson University in Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents June J. Glover and Donald W. Glover; and a sister Janice G. Seran.
Henry is survived by his wife Michelle of Smithfield; his daughter Abigail of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; his dear sister Sally G. O'Donnell of Portsmouth, N.H., sister Susan and husband Doug Gominger of New Jersey, brother Donald Glover Jr.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Ellen and Charlie Clark and our dear close friends, the Kriegel Family.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with a reception immediately following. All services will be held at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, 61 Pleasant St, Waterville.

Henry was a beautiful person. I always looked forward to seeing his smile when I picked him up at the bus stop at Sugarloaf. He was always so happy, he always made my day. I will miss him.

My heart goes out to his family. He was truly more then just a doctor to me. He took care of my parents, he took care of me my whole life (literally - he delivered me 34 years ago!), he was always so kind and supportive and real. He was a shoulder to cry on when I lost my mom a few years ago. He loved seeing pictures of my boys and was the first person to ever put the idea of going back to school for nursing in to my head. I'm heartbroken and he will be deeply missed.

A Henry fishing story during the PCOM years; Henry took me night fishing off the Jersey shore, pitch black, miles off the coast, the boat bobbing up and down for 3 hours and I .was sea sick for three hours. No problem,while pulling in fish after fish, Henry treated me with his unique blend of humor and joking making me laugh through my misery. Henry felt so bad for me, he actually caught a fish on his line, but then handed me his pole so that I could reel in the fish to say I caught one. I smile today thinking of the fun we had that night and on many other escapades

I"M torn to pieces I will never ever find the greatest Dr. then I found in u or 32 yrs. No one would ever come close to the very best caring wonderful man etc.... So deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Henry Glover's passing. He was such an amazing physician and person. You would often hear people say they would not look forward to a doctor's visit. But, this was never the case for me, when I resided in Oakland, as one of his former patients. He and his wonderful staff always seemed to brighten my day, despite my illness!!!
His legacy will shine on through his wife, Michelle and daughter, Abigail.
My deepest condolences are with his family, extended family (office staff) and the many dear friends he has left behind. You will be missed dearly! God Bless!

Such a great loss to everyone who has ever even met this wonderful man. He was the absolute 'real deal'. You never had to wonder what was on his mind. Whether it was about a sports team, a political view, or your health, you always knew exactly how he felt about it. He has been my Doctor for about 25 years and I will always miss his thorough diagnostic skills as well as the knowledgeable interactions about sports, New Jersey, Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and life in general. My heartfelt sympathy goes out not only to his family and patients, but also to his wonderful office staff. This is a sad time for everyone who knew him.

I was so saddened to hear of Henry's passing. He took great care of not only myself but both of my girls and my mother and fiance. He always had a friendly welcoming smile and I always felt he genuinely cared. The only silver lining...if there is to be one, is that he is watching over us from above now. Michelle, Abbie, and family. My deepest sadness and prayers are with you . Dr. Glover saved my life twenty five years ago by making the right diagnosis and getting me into surgery. He always greeted us with a handshake and that famous smile of his.He took excellent care of my Mom and Dad and he will be sadly missed. No one can ever fill his shoes. He was a kind person and always made everyone feel special by taking the time to listen to us and what was wrong. Even my Parents who were elderly said to me one day he always shakes my hand and gives me a smile and listens to me. He was the best of the best and will always be in our thoughts. He loved his family and spending time with them. I remember when Abbie was a baby we could watch her grow up he had pictures of her in every room. He was so proud of his little girl and loved her and Michelle very much they were his world. I did not go out and shovel tonight since that was one thing he use to tell me not to do and then when I did not listen he use to tell me I was one piece of work. I thought of those words today and took the shovel and put it down thinking Dr. Glover is watching over all of us but no one down here is going to be able to give me the care I need so I put the shovel away He was a great man, doctor and someone that you could always know that he would tell you the truth and help you deal with it . Thank You Dr. Glover for giving us all the excellent care and patience that you did. You will be missed.

Dr. Glover was exceptional. He has been my Dad's doctor for many years (he is elderly now, so I bring him to his appointments) and he took such a genuine interest in Dad's life (and mine) which is a very rare gift in today's rushed world of medical care. Henry was the real deal, always with a mischievous twinkle in his eye and genuine concern for his patients. I used to think we were special, but clearly he made everyone feel the same way. ♡

My heart is broken. Dr. Glover was more than a doctor, he was a caring, compassionate old friend. He was always so good with Troy, Sean, and me, always joking with Sean about sports. He became my doctor when I was twenty one. Here we are, twenty two years later. He watched me get married and my son grow up. He truly was Best of the Best for physicians.
