Dr Slack took care of my 4 boys (cats) with so much gentleness that they did anything he asked. Very kind man and he will be missed something awful..My thoughts and prayers to his family...

To Dr Slack's Family and loved ones. We can't tell you how much Dr Slack helped us when we lost our beloved Jake and our PJ. He always was there for us day or night and he was so caring and thoughtful. He was a man of few words but you always knew how much he cared. We wouldn't have had anyone other than him and his wonderful staff at NEAH take care of our pets. We will miss him as a vet and as a friend. Our wish for all of you is to find peace in all your memories of the good times and to know that Alan is at peace with Wade and all the little friends he helped through his time with us. God Bless you all! Alan you made a difference in so many people's lives. God be with you!

We are so sorry for your loss, he was very special.

To say that Dr. Slack had a special connection with his patients would be a gross understatement. What he had was a gifted level of emotional intelligence concerning his patients. I will always remember his abundant patience with Katie when cutting her nails and the way he held my sweet Trixie's face the last time he saw her and told her that she had a beautiful soul.

Dr. Slack, thank you for everything. You will be missed by all of us.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to Dr. Slack's family, friends, and staff at NEAH.

To Dr. Slack's family, friends, and loved ones - On behalf of all of us here at Maine Greyhound Placement Service, please accept our most sincere sympathies on the loss of this truly fine man. He made such a difference in the lives of so many animals and was an enormous asset to our organization. He pulled numerous greyhounds back from the brink when nobody else could. On a personal note, I will never forget him performing an emergency c-section on my beloved ewe, Serta, in VERY primitive conditions. He will always be a hero of mine. His death is shocking and I still cannot believe it. We are all better for having known such a kind and gentle soul as Dr. Slack. May he rest in eternal peace. Wishing his family comfort, warmth, and peace at this difficult time.

To Rose and all the kids and grandkids,
We are so sorry for your loss. It is a great loss to the whole community losing Alan.
I will miss his mischievous grin, dry sense of humor, and quiet demeanor.
Please take comfort in knowing that he left this earth knowing that he was loved by you all, and that he is now with Wade, both watching over you.
He would be very proud of you for following through with his wishes for his funeral. Something that was not easy for you since he was a man who was more popular than he ever realized.
God bless Alan. I have no doubt that he was greeted by many animals in heaven that he helped cross over with compassion and grace.

ONE OF THE BEST

Our deepest sympathies to Dr. Slack's family and staff.

He was SIMPLY THE BEST! An amazing man and vet whom we trusted completely. He will always have a special place in our hearts.

It gives us peace to know that you are now taking care of Kobi, Boomer, Tonka, and Fluffy again. I'm sure they were overjoyed when you walked in. All tails wagging! Sad for all of us, happy for our pet family that have already passed, they are lucky to have you back.

Please always know how much you were appreciated. We were blessed to have you in our lives. May you rest in peace and THANK YOU for everything from the bottom of our hearts.

Enjoy your time with Wade now.

Love,

The Labries,

Dave, Amanda, Jordyn, Mackenzy, Molson, Cider, and Tai

Dr. Slack was my first boss as a newly graduated vet tech. He taught me so much and I shall never forget him. I worked for him from 1985 to 1987, and would have stayed with him if I had not returned to Aroostook County to be near my family. He was an awesome vet and surgeon! - Karen Poulin ( Bouchard) Caribou, Maine

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. I think I have been going to Dr Slack since he came to Waterville. I was so shocked when I heard the news as I'm sure everyone else was. I'm sure he's happy now with his son Wade. It's just so sad when you don't have a chance to say goodbye. Deepest sympathy. God bless you all.

He was so kind with all my dogs. He was like the dog whisper. Words can't express what a wonderful man he was with my dogs and I will miss him.
