I was press secretary for Congressman F. Edward Hebert when the plane carrying Hale Boggs disappeared over Alaska. I sat in on a very emotional meeting between Lindy and Hebert when she asked him for help. Hebert called Secretary of Defense Mel Laird, a good friend. That spurred a search by the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard to find any evidence of a plane crash. Nothing was ever found. Lindy courageously moved on, won his seat in Congress and served with distinction for many years. She was a Great Lady.I feel privileged to have known her and her husband. God bless and keep you both.

Dear Boggs Family,

Our family extends our deepest sympathies to your family. Your beloved mother was an inspiration to many women throughout the United States and in Europe as well. She was truly an amazing woman who was a good and faithful servant to the end. She made a difference in the lives of many Louisiana's and all the people that she served across our country. With each position she was appointed or elected, Lindy rose to the occasion with grace, intergity, commitment and professionalism.
May these cherished memories with your beloved mother bring your family peace and comfort now and always.
As we celebrate her rich and long life of government and public service we salute a truly Great American Lady who was an example to all.
