Anderschat, 81
SCARBOROUGH -- Margaret Mary Anderschat, 81, of Florence, Ky., passed away on Wednesday evening at the Maine Veterans Home after a seven month battle with cancer. She was at peace and surrounded by her family when she died.
Margaret was born on Nov. 16, 1931, in Portland, the daughter of James and Mary (Folan) Lee. She was a graduate of Portland High School.
She married Eugene J. Anderschat on April 26, 1951, and they moved to Chicago to raise their family. In 1977 they moved back to Portland area and finally retired to Kentucky in 2003.
Margie, as she was known, enjoyed working in her baby-sitting club and being a homemaker. She also loved card games, scratch tickets and Yahtzee and was an avid Portland Pirates and Cincinnati Cyclones hockey fan.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband; her parents; her son, Michael Thomas Anderschat; and two brothers, Thomas and John Lee. Surviving are her daughter, Karen Lee LoCascio and her husband John of Scarborough, her son, James E. Anderschat and his wife Judith (Brown) of South Portland; a daughter-in-law, Julie (Farber) Anderschat of Florence, Ky.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. There will be a Mass held in Florence, Ky., on Wednesday, Feb. 27, where burial will follow. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ctcrawford.com.
