Malcolm Ling Obituary

Malcolm Scott Ling

MANSFIELD: Malcolm Scott Ling, age 54, passed away early Monday, September 14, at 8:43 am at home after 5 months of illness.

Scott was born May 31, 1961 in Somerset Community Hospital, Pennsylvania, to parents Roberta and Donald Ling. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1980. Scott began working at various jobs, which took him away from home. He worked at Ideal Electric, and took pride in participating in the construction and painting the lovely gazebo in Central Park. He then went on to Shaffer Valve for some time, and did Maintenance work in the city in winter and summer, clearing snow, and then welding for local factories. He also went to New Jersey and Pittsburgh, PA working for Case Maul Corp., welding and doing construction.

Scott enjoyed collecting antiques, shooting pool, and working on antique cars. He was active earlier in scouting and enjoyed the friendship of the scout leaders.

Generosity was one of his greatest characteristics, he learned a lot from his father, and brothers. He held both his brothers in high esteem. Like his father, he fixed everything and did so proudly, and enjoyed passing those skills onto his son. Scott was generous and gave tools, money, and time to his family and friends.

Scott leaves his son Brandon Scott (Ryan Rickey) Ling; special and dear friend Debbie Bivens; mother Roberta Ling; siblings Heidi Hibbler, Brian (Kristy) Ling, Timothy (Cindy) Ling, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his father Donald Ling; grand-daughter Sierra Lynne Ling; nieces Brittany, Adrianne, and sister-in-law Leeann Ling.

Services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11 am at Main Street United Methodist Church. Dr. DeWayne Smith will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family at the Main Street United Methodist Church on the day of service.

The family would like to thank Hospice and all there beloved nurses and doctors at Ohio Health MedCentral, and the Cleveland Clinic, OSU, and Home Health Care.
