Marie Edna Demeter (maiden name: Hansen)

Born on December 8th, 1917, while her mother was visiting family and friends in Denmark.

She is survived by her 2 brothers Kai and Clifford Hansen, and 1 sister Caroline Pistone, born in the Hansen Family … they lived on Hulda Avenue in Cleveland.

Marie Graduated in 1937 from John Adams High.

She met Dick Demeter in the activities of the family … he courted her… and they were married on May 27th, 1939. They bought their home in Maple Hts., where they lived until his death in 1975, after which she lived with her Daughter in Strongsville, Ohio.

The Demeter marriage was blessed with the birth of one daughter … Louise Marie, and in turn to the joy of all, four grandchildren had been added to the family circle … Cynthia, Christopher, Henry Dick, and Laura

And now there are 6 Great-grandchildren …Adam, Kyler, Kallie Marie, Casey, Karra Louise, and Reign Marie.

For some years she was active with the Danish Sisterhood, with her family and husband. She took pride in her Danish heritage.

Marie was a talented artist, some of her pictures and ceramic pieces are still displayed and enjoyed by her family… she enjoyed cooking and cookouts, with family and friends… and she maintained many high-school friendships over the years and corresponded with many of her friends until her death. Taking pride in being a good homemaker … she enjoyed sewing, and was an excellent seamstress… she made many of Louise's formal dresses and taught her daughter how to sew. She enjoyed reading the newspaper daily, and passed the time reading short stories in her later years. She had a flare for decorating and kept a neat and orderly home in Maple Heights… the center of family gathering for many years, providing many happy memories for family and friends.

Just after the New Year in January… she broke her leg, and although after 4 months of rehab and when she was able to walk again, her health began to deteriorate… After three months of a quiet summer at home, her ailments indicated that these were to be her final days… she died peacefully in her home Tuesday, September 19th, in the early morning hours.
