AUNT MARY

In my mind and in my memory one word defines Mary. Gentle. Her fingers carefully untwined the rubber band from my ponytail. The hairbrush in her hand never pulled. Her humorous asides, delivered in her voice, I hear in my head as I write this, portrayed her strength of character. I had wanted to write to her in the last days of her illness but could not think of what to say to someone so dear so aware of death calling her home. I guess I love you would have been a good start. In reflecting joy for life was her special talent. The gift she gave freely to everyone she encountered.

Our family is spread from Massachusetts to Florida, a long strand of distant and closely arranged pearls. One of our pearls has slipped off, her luster remains to warm our memories. I am sorry for our family’s lost and grief. I hope each is consoled by one or many very personal moments touched by Mary’s indelible essence.

Even though she lived in florida i always found her at some of the more important celebrations that my family and i had.
She left us with some good memories some funny some sad but i will always remember her.

Marie you will be missed, but you will never be forgotten and you will always be loved. I'm glad I got to know you.

To Viki My Friend

I wish for you...
Comfort on difficult days,
Smiles when sadness intrudes,
Rainbows to follow the clouds,
Laughter to kiss your lips,
Sunsets to warm your heart,
Gentile hugs when spirits sag,
Friendships to brighten your being,
Beauty for your eyes to see,
Confidence for when you doubt,
Faith so that you can believe,
Courage to know yourself,
Patience to accept the truth,
And love to complete your life.
