Elizabeth Ann Tullis Age 66, of Novato, Calif., passed away February 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with liver cancer. She was born March 9, 1948 in Bethesda, Maryland to Dr. John L. and Frances (Dwyer) Tullis. Liz graduated from high school in Millburn, N.J. in 1966 and Boston University with a degree in theatrical design in 1970. She spent time in graduate school at Columbia University. Summers were spent at the family home in East Orleans, Mass. In East Orleans, Liz's lifelong love of the theater began, spending her summers at the Orleans summer stock Arena Theater, painting sets, learning scenery design and basic behind-the-scenes theater arts. Liz always said East Orleans was a great place to grow up. Liz was an accomplished artist, photographer, seamstress, SCUBA diver and world-wide traveler. Passion for the theater arts was the basis for Liz's long career in theater. She began as a costume designer and cutter, worked as a scenic artist for repertory theater companies, the San Francisco Ballet, The American Conservatory Theater and the San Francisco Opera. For 26 years until her retirement in 2003, Liz was a scenic artist for many film and TV companies including Columbia, Lucas, Disney, Paramount, ABC, etc, mainly in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. Survivors include her mother Frances D. Tullis of Seminole, Fla., brothers David F. Tullis (Susan) of Henniker, N.H. and Jonathan T. Tullis (Barbara) of Seven Lakes, N.C. and nephews Christopher, David, Joshua and Devin Tullis, plus six great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held on March 22, 2015 at 3:00PM at the Novato Youth Center, 680 Wilson Ave., Novato, CA 94947. The Ancient Greeks believed that as long as your name was spoken, you lived. Whenever I recount the best times in my life, Lizs name is spoken. 50 passing years has not dimmed the memory of the joy we shared.

I met Liz at the Hyde Park Playhouse the summer of 1969. I had just graduated from high school- The world was opening like a rose and suddenly there was Liz. Beautiful smile, beautiful hair, well just beautiful. Of course I fell in love the first time I saw her. Miracle of miracles, she loved me back. The best summer of my life. Thanks Liz for my life.

I worked with Elizabeth at ILM . We in the stage department were always glad to know she was on the job because she was enjoyable to work with and we she always worked to a high standard.
She and I also shared an enjoyment of Cape Cod.

I often hired Elizabeth on films in the Bay Area. She was very talented, had a great work ethic, and a terrific sense of humor. When I put her in charge of a location, I knew she could handle what ever was thrown at her. We both studied under the same teacher in Scene Design and Painting so we had a sort of visual shorthand when we spoke about how a set should look. Elizabeth was a favorite of so many different departments working on a film. I will miss my union sister very much.
