Erik,
I was informed by Alessio of these very bad news. As I can see your father was brillant, generous and passionate. This is exactly the adjectives I would have give to you. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. Nicolas

A great man, friend, selfless, brilliant, and loved by many. Loved a challenge and the glass was always half full. I am at a loss for words other than my deepest sympathies to Paul s family and great friends. Gone, but not forgotten.

Our deepest sympathies to Paul's family on his sudden and tragic passing. Paul was a brilliant, passionate and generous person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We enjoyed many nights with him learning about the stars, watching an eclipse and sharing stories. Rich and Chris Chew

Thank you, Paul - for having been my friend.
Sailing down the coast in the late 1970's and early 1980's from the Bay Area to Monterey aboard your 38-foot catamaran PASS-DE-DEUX were great adventures. Sailing San Francisco Bay aboard your sloop NINERTA were summers to look forward to and totally enjoy. Your superior skills at the helm brought in many trophies from the MORA races, but mostly it was simply great fun..!
It was amazing to witness how eagerly you embraced information technology in its earliest developmental stages and applied it to the medical sciences - especially in the fields of radiology and ultrasound.
The social events that you hosted at your home were events not to be missed - your guest list was never limited just to medical professionals, so everyone went home knowing just a little more due to the conversations with experts in their various fields.
The world is now an emptier place because of your absence. It was too soon for you to go - RIP, my friend.

Condolences to the Guttman family on Paul's passing. I was so sorry to hear the news. Incline Village has lost a terrific individual.
It was always fun speaking with Paul when we'd run into each other while walking through the hilly Incline neighborhood. He had the best looking garden! As a plant lover myself, it was hard not to be envious. His daffodils were beautiful every spring.
Paul also put on interesting astronomy events that enabled many people, including myself, to see some really cool stuff. Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, ring nebulas and Andromeda are among a few things that come to mind.
RIP, Paul.
