Not sure what to say?

Came across this page as I was Googling John's name. I took the black and white photo on this page of John at the piano back in 1983. I met him a couple of times as we had mutual friends. A great guy....I remember the fantastic house with the heptagon roof in Sleepy Hollow. RIP John.

San Anselmo, California

ONE-TIME LIFE WORK EXHIBITION OF RENAISSANCE MAN JOHN CHASE LEWIS
AND ARTIST-POET HELEN WEBBER

The extraordinary paintings and metal sculptures or Lewis combined with dynamically colorful tapestries and painted furniture of Webber take place on Nov 16th and 17th 2013 at Lewis's studio in San Anselmo on November 16-17th between 1–5 pm.

John Lewis, a well known local jazz musician, sculptor, and painter crafted his work in his San Anselmo studio (28 Timothy Ave), while still finding time to play 5 or more musical events per week. He often volunteered for Bread and Roses and other Marin based non-profit organizations. Before moving to Marin, Lewis was the Head of the Sculpture Deperment at Purdue University, and then taught locally as an art professor at College of Marin and CCAC. He is especially known for his lifelike bronze busts, and his large welded steel art pieces depicting creatures, vehicles, and designs created from 1950's chrome automobile bumpers.

Helen Webber, who has a Master's degree graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, is best known for her tapestries, which have ranged from six to sixty-five feet, and were first introduced to the art and design world in the mid 1970s. Her magnificent tapestries utilize a collage technique, combining an array of yarns and fabrics. She believes that “art brings uniqueness to a space, whether it's a public place or a home.” Her bold and richly hued art works have been executed in a wide variety of media, such as tapestry, glass, metal, wood, and clay. During her career, Helen has lectured and taught at colleges and organizations throughout the United States and in Europe.

Come enjoy art, stories, music and refreshment.
