RIP coach, enjoyed seeing you coach at Utah. He was a great teacher of the game of basketball. Had a chance to meet him back in the 90's at a AAU tourament in Utah.

I have been a fan of yours for many years. And that was before I had the privilege to get a glimpse of the man that you were by reading Bernie Miklasz' column! RIP!

This is a sad day for all of us. I worked at Rick's basketball camp for 13 straight summers at Utah. That first summer I was 25 years old with no experience as a coach or a player. Within 10 years, I became a college coach and a head coach at a large high school. Almost everything I learned about basketball, I learned from Rick. In 1992, my second year working camp, Rick sent me a personal letter on Utah letterhead. I cherish it to this day. He thanked me for working his camp, and told me that if I ever needed anything, I should not hesitate to ask. I was a nobody in the basketball world, and he treated me like a somebody. Rick's legacy will live on. I still coach basketball, and 90% of what I teach my players, I learned from Rick. Rest in Peace, Coach. You were the best!

Thank you for all you brought to the basketball world and young kids lives. You were too kind and a TRUE leader.
