Marilyn M. Smith
CARDINGTON: Marilyn M. Smith, age 80, of Cardington died Saturday afternoon January 26, 2013 at The Sterling House. She was born April 23, 1932 in Edison to the late Lloyd F. and Beulah C. (Hoenshell) Bell.
Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Iberia High School and then worked as an inspector at North Electric. Her other employment was at Richland Insurance and as a long time school bus driver for both Cardington and River Valley Schools. She was a full time homemaker and a part-time farm assistant, working ground on the family farm for her husband Doyle. Marilyn was past president of the Jenkins-Vaughn American Legion Axillary #97 where she was active and for many years served as the "Legion Cook" and participated on the bowling team.
On July 5, 1953 in Iberia, Marilyn married Doyle Smith and he survives in Cardington; also surviving are two sons, Steven W. Smith of Marion and Roger L. (Marianne) Smith of Allen, TX; two grandchildren, Rodney Smith and Jennifer Smith; one sister, Rosetta Sapyta of Tampa, FL; and two nephews, Sparr Sapyta of Summerville N.C.and Rodney Sapyta of Thonotosassa, FL.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Service in Cardington where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Pastor Gail Angel of the Cardington United Methodist Church will officiate and the burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Doyle and Steve, I pray that your hearts are filled with the joy of sweet meories of your wife and mom as you celebrate her life. You both were such a blessing to her as you cared for her so tenderly. You have been an inspiration to me and it was an honor for me to observe your unfailing love for her.
