Jakobi, Donald F.
Donald F. Jakobi, age 85, passed away unexpectedly late Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Ministry St Josephs Hospital in Marshfield. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (201 S. LaSalle) in Spencer.
Don was born October 29, 1927 the son of Fred and Meta (Anderegg) Jakobi in Loyal, Wisconsin. Don attended Griffith School in Loyal. He served his country proudly by enlisting in the US Army and was assigned to the 11th Airborne Div. On May 25, 1963 Donald was united in marriage to Tie Evans in Winona County, Minnesota.
Don worked many jobs in his life from farming to road construction, but he felt the most rewarded when working as a counselor for AODA for over 26 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby and a Life Member of the VFW, the DAV, and the American Legion. Don enjoyed the simple things in life such as tending to the garden or spending time with family.
Donald is lovingly survived by his wife: Tie of Colby; children: Gary (Barb) Jakobi of Marathon, Donald Jr. (Wendy) Jakobi of Colby, Scott (Chris) Jakobi of Unity, Darnel Jakobi of Unity, Daryl (Amy) Jakobi of Loyal, Tammy (Roger) Vanderhoff of Unity, and Christine (Kenny) Hintz of Stevens Point, Gayle Jakobi of Colby, Denise (Jeff) Rucker of Spencer, Michelle Manthe of Marshfield, and step daughter: Cheryl Zink of Stevens Point. Donald is further survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a brother, Duane (Elsie) Jakobi of Chili.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Meta; a daughter, Dawn Jakobi; as well as a sisters, Darlene Picher and Doreen Boceshon.

RIP old friend. Wish I could have thanked you one more time for helping me get my life back. You were like a father to me the short time I new you. Thanks again old Buddy. You were THE MAN.
