Francis A. Misulis ,78, of Springfield died Sunday at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, a son of the late Adam and Irene (Brown) Misulis. Francis was a graduate of Western New England University and a US Army veteran. Francis was a Springfield police officer with badge #3, retiring in 1997 after 30 years of dedicated service. Immediately upon retirement, he and his wife Marion took on the joyful task of watching their grandchildren. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, a member of Springfield Lodge of Elks #61, and enjoyed visiting the Ludlow Senior Center. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marion (Benz) Misulis; 2 daughters, Lynn Callahan and her husband Gregory of Ludlow and Lori Misulis of Springfield; a sister, Marilyn Farina of Springfield; and 2 grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Callahan. Francis will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed Old Orchard Beach, Maine and annual trips to the Wentworth Inn. Family and friends are invited to meet directly on Friday April 4, 2014 for a 1:30 Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 219 Plumtree Rd, Springfield to be immediately followed by Rites of Committal at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, Contributions in Francis' memory may be sent to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Rd., Springfield.
