Henry S. Pasterczyk, 95, of Chicopee, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Wilbraham. He was a gun assembler at the former Savage Arms Corp. Henry was born on May 24, 1918 in Chicopee and has been a life-long resident. He was the son of the late Jan and Franciszka (Hejnar) Pasterczyk. Henry was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus. He was a veteran of WWII, a Purple Heart recipient, which he received in the North Africian Campaign, and was in the infamous march through Italy. Henry took care of all his family, focusing his life around his nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister and best friend, Adella Boratis of Chicopee, three nephews, Francis Pasterczyk, Ronald Pasterczyk, and Henry Boratis, eleven great nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. Henry is predeceased by two brothers, Leo and Walter Pasterczyk. Henry's family would like to thank all the loving and caring staff at Life Care of Wilbraham and Western Mass Hospice for their care and support. Henry's funeral will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from the Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home on 69 East St., in Chicopee Falls, at 8 am, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, 566 Front St. in Chicopee at 9 am. His burial with military honors will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St. in Chicopee. Calling hours are on Friday from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Western Massachusetts Hospice, 1325 Springfield St. Ste. 12, Feeding Hills, MA 01030 or the Activity Dept. at Life Care of Wilbraham, 2399 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
