I got to know Joe and Mary, when they lived at Quail Run in Agawam. I brought them their medications from the local Rite Aid. Over time, I became aware that I was in the presence of two great American heroes, although they would never say it. Their service to our country during WWII was nothing short of extraordinary. The countless lives they saved by their selfless actions is the stuff others make into movies. The numerous commendations and awards these humble, unassuming folks received are examples of true American greatness. It is an honor for me to have known them, for the short time we shared. Rest in peace, Joe and Mary, you more than earned it.

Mary was a wonderful, giving person who's knowledge of plants knew no bounds. She and Joe were great friends with my parents. They are all together now, I'm sure working on Heaven's gardens.
Take comfort in the wonderful memories of your parents.
