Raymond A. Skiba, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Born in Chicopee on February 17, 1933, son of the late Walter J. and Mary B. (Przybyla) Skiba, he was a graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 1950. A US Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Staff Sergeant with the 11th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. Raymond was a retired thirty-eight year pressman for Curtis Business Forms and Phillip Hano Co. He was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr and a member of the Chicopee ELKS, Lodge 1849 and the Pastime AC. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of fifty nine years, Esther J. (Olbrych) Skiba; his loving son, Mark A. Skiba and his wife Sandra; his cherished granddaughters, Allison M. Kopie and her husband James, and Melissa A. Skiba; great grandchildren, Rilee and Jackson Kopie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Walter Skiba and Fred Skiba, and by a nephew, John Skiba. Funeral services and burial with military honors in St. Stanislaus Cemetery are private.
