Roy E. Malmstrom 1916 - 2013 EAST LONGMEADOW - Roy Edwin Malmstrom, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, at his residence in East Longmeadow at the age of 96. Roy was born on June 23, 1916 in Springfield, MA. He was the loving son of the late Edwin and Wendla (Carlson) Malmstrom. Roy and his loving wife, of 58 years, Margaret "Peg" (Kelley) Malmstrom who predeceased him in 2003 were longtime residents of East Longmeadow. He was employed by Chapman Valve Division of Crane Co., for 43 years, retiring in 1978, as Supervisor in the Engineering Department. He was a Mason at the Charles Spellman Lodge in East Longmeadow and was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Longmeadow. Roy was an active member at the East Longmeadow Senior Center. He enjoyed the time at the hunting camp in New Hampshire with the gang. Roy was blessed with a long life and great health and a warm personality that endeared him to family and friends. He is survived by his loving son, Richard K. Malmstrom and his wife Carolyn Anderson, and by his grandson, Kyle Malmstrom and granddaughter, Alexis Anderson all of Burlington, VT. Roy's family wishes to express their grateful appreciation for the kind and compassionate care he received from his special hospice nurse, Brenda Curry, and special care givers, Jo Arlotia, Rachel and Dennis. Family and friends will meet on Thursday, April 4, at 11 a.m. for Roy's Rites of Committal and burial at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St., Springfield, MA 01129. There are no calling hours. Services are under the guidance of Hafey Funeral Service.
