May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Kerri from Perth Western Australia here... My respect for a marine and man who seemed to bless so many and made so many marines welcome. He seemed to be loved and honoured by so many marines and all those he came in contact with (from what I've read and watched). It's been an honour to learn about such an AMAZING person. His parents must be some AMAZING PEOPLE AND SHOULD BE SO PROUD TO HAVE RAISED SUCH A SON. God bless MATTS PARENTS and family members and his wife and son who are left behind to pick up the pieces. My prayers and thoughts go out to you all. I pray that the pain of losing some one so special has subsided somewhat. THANKYOU for the soldiers who fight so valiantly and for those who have died in combat.

Just watched a video with many memories shared about Sgt. Abbate (http://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2013/a-tribute-to-battlefield-brothers/). He seems like the man I want to be, the friend I wish I knew, and the brother I wish I had. Much love, respect and sympathy to his family.

Hey Bruh, on Memorial Day I had more than one beer, and more than one burger. And certainly thought of you more than once!

Took flowers in your Honor today to you Mom's house. I was hoping to give her a hug, but she was not home. You will always be thought of in a special way.

You are a true hero. Almost two years has passed and you are still touching people's lives. You will never be forgotten Sergeant Abbate.
