As a kid growing up I was a Giants fan. Primarily because of Willie Mays. The Alou family was a great baseball story and all were integral part of the SF success in those years. Blessings to the entire Alou family as you mourn the passing of a great player, an even better man.

The three Alou brothers lived two blocks away from us in the Excelsior District when they played with the Giants in the early 60's and we would pass their home on the way to school. We always got a thrill and a smile and a wave when one of the brothers happened to be outside. Wonderful memories of a grand era in Giants history.
