John Sterner Obituary
Dr. John P. Jack Sterner, 81, of Whitehall, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Catherine (Mack) Sterner. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on November 14, 2012. Jack had his private practice in Allentown until retiring in 1993. He owned and operated Sterners pharmacy in Catasauqua for 12 years before he attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1973. He graduated from Temple School of Pharmacy in 1958 and St. Anns High School in Lansford in 1950. He was a member of the American Association of Osteopathic Physicians. He was a 4th degree member of Calvary Council #528, Knights of Columbus, Allentown and the Catasauqua Rotary Club. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1952 to 1954. Survivors: wife; children, Coleen A. Schrampf and her husband, Fred of Whitehall; Atty. John P. and his wife Maria of Bath; Monica LaDuca and her husband, Angelo of Allentown; Mark A. and his wife Deborah of Spring City; brother Dr. Paul E. Sterner of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Jessica Schrampf, Jaclyn Schrampf, Adam LaDuca, Kristen LaDuca, Ethan J. Sterner and Miss Hannah Sterner; and one step grandson Ryan Sariego. Services: will be private. Arrangements by Trexler Funeral Home 1625 Highland St., Allentown. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Jacks memory may be made to D.O. To the Sterner family: hard to believe ten years has passed. Many good memories about our pharmacy backgrounds, medical classmates at PCOM, our exciting intern year at Allentown Osteopathic, and social gatherings. Jack always was able to lift anyone´s spirits and had an experienced unmatched "bedside manner". please recall those good times that make you smile or laugh. He will share your love in heaven.

My condolences to he Sterner Family. I knew Dr Sterner as a colleague in my early years in medicine. I was sadly surprised to see his recent obituary next to my father's. I know they covered for each other at some point in their careers. It is ironic that these 2 early keystone of the osteopathic community in Allentown should leave us at the same time. Again , I would like to offer my smpathies on behalf otf the entire extended Connelly family

I had the honor and privilege of sitting with Dr. Sterner on Saturday evening. I met his devoted wife and had time to talk to his son-in-law. What I learned was what a wonderful, intellgient, kind man Dr. Sterner was. The love, respect, and pride his son-in-law has for him was so evident. I loved hearing stories about this gentle man. I also met Dr. Sterner's loving grandson, and was so deeply moved by him. May God show His many blessings upon the family during this difficult time.

I was sorry to read the news about the passing of your dad. Though it's been many years, I often think back of the old gang hanging out. We had many great times at both your houses while we were growing up.Your mom and pop always making sure we were ok, providing summer drinks and so on. Coleen, with Fred in the Camaro.
