Geist, Shirley W.Shirley W. Geist, 96, of Whitehall, PA, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Whitehall, PA. Born February 17, 1918 in Coplay, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joshua and Bessie (Bennett) Mortimer. She was the wife of the late Frank Geist who died in 2006. Shirley was a member of Trinity U.C.C. Church, Coplay, and she was a member of the Parkland Art League for many years. Survivors: Surviving are daughter, Sandra J. wife of Harlan Kunkel of Whitehall, PA; brothers, Joshua Mortimer of Walnutport, PA and Richard Mortimer of Coplay, PA; sister, Dorothy Slider of Palm Bay, FL; two grandchildren, James Kunkel & wife Jennifer of Coplay and Richard Kunkel of Whitehall; and one great-grandson, Owen Kunkel. She was predeceased by sister, Jean Newhart. Services: Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA with the Rev. Steven C. Hummel officiating. A calling hour from 10-11:00am will precede the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Coplay Cemetery, Coplay, PA. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church memorial fund, c/o the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.
