William P. Burke
William P. Burke, 82, of Bethlehem, died on Monday, December 24, 2012. He was born June 21, 1930 in Scranton; son of the late William and Mary (Kenahan) Burke. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Mary Lou Burke. William was a graduate of Central High and the University of Scranton. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Lake Champlain. William was employed as an Internal Revenue Service Agent until his retirement. He was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. William will be remembered for his enjoyment of golf and politics, his knowledge of the stock market and most importantly the love of his family. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; four sons, Bill and his wife Stacey of Bethlehem; Tim and his wife Barbara of Hampstead, MD; Patrick and his wife Monica of Mesa, AZ and Paul and his wife Melissa of Bethlehem; nine grandchildren and his sister, Anne Swift of Clarks Summit, PA. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Burke and his brother, John. Services: A visitation will be held at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. Another visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturday at Notre Dame of Bethlehem, 1861 Catasauqua Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church. Condolences may be made online at www.connellfuneral.com.
