The members of the Baton Rouge Kid's Baseball Clinic send our most sincere sympathy to his dear wife and family. Mel came to the Clinic for over 37 years and gave unmeasurable enjoymnet and baseball knowledge to all of us and especially the youngsters. The "game" would not have been what it is today with out him.

Sincerely for all the members,

Bob Waltman and Johnny Fetzer

I saw Mel pitch for Scranton in the 40's when minor league teams were full of future major league stars. I am a Yankee fan but I always followed Mel's career because he was a local Scranton hero. Condolences to his family.

Mr. Parnell's daughter and I were born on the same day at Beth Israel. Our parents would converse and I was told that Mr. Parnell was an extremely nice man. Rest in Peace.
