John Ellett Obituary

John King Ellett
September 2, 1934 - October 6, 2013
Loving father and Husband leaves behind his wife Nancy O'Bryhim and daughter Jennifer Tindall. He served in the navy as a chief petty officer for 27 and 1/2 years and was very proud of his service. He also leaves behind many cousins, and many many friends. After a long battle with prostate cancer and recently congestive heart failure, his heart finally gave out this morning. He was honest, kind, loving and a good man. He will be missed by all that he touched in his lifetime. In lieu of flowers or cards we ask that you please donate to the wounded warriors project. Please contact the family to find out about the arrangements at 2097224809.

Rest in peace, dear John King. Being an older cousin, I knew you all your life. I have many happy memories of days of playing on the ranch as kids and of adventures in the High Sierra back country on our pack trips. Your always willing help to my father as he grew older was so appreciated. We all loved you for your great sense of humor and inquisitive mind. The family reunion will have lost a spark with your absence, but we'll all smile and speak of you with love, John King. I am comforted knowing you have been reunited with loved ones who've gone before. I'll see you there one day. Until then, much love.

John, we shared a love of the stars. One thing that stood out was living life to the fullest and marveling at the universe and its creator. You get the answers first but we know one day we will all share in the wonders prepared for us. Rest your sails and always know that you were loved and will never be forgotten. Until we meet again Chief.

Spent many a night in the CPO Chatroom of the Goatlocker over the years chatting to John. He always had the following greeting: "Best to the Misses and You Rich". Never once did he change it. John, you and Jess are now together again, and I am sure, looking down on all your friends and family. To OB and Jen: I Never had the Pleasure of Meeting John, but his wit and wisdom will forever be etched in my mind. He was a Great Man,a Great Chief, and more importantly, a GREAT Friend. Fair Winds and Following Seas John, You will always be in my thoughts.

Lost Harbor

----by Leslie Nelson Jennings

There is a port of no return, where ships
May ride at anchor for a little space
And then, some starless night, the cable slips,
Leaving an eddy at the mooring place . . .
Gulls, veer no longer. Sailor, rest your oar.
No tangled wreckage will be washed ashore.
