Frank A. Bettencourt

Frank A. Bettencourt has gone home to join his wife, Rose M. Bettencourt. He passed away on January 3, 2014. He was born in Lowell, Mass. in 1926 and was raised in Hilmar, and served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist mate, 1st class. He married Rose M. Machado in 1949. He was employed in the banking industry for over thirty years, working in various towns in the Central Valley. Frank was also actively involved in many community organizations and service clubs. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Turlock, Y.M.I. in Hilmar, the American Legion of Merced and the Lions International Club of Merced.He and his wife, Rose, raised four children: Leonard (Lydia) of Turlock, Lucy Mattos (Mel) of Modesto, Les (LaVon) of El Dorado Hills and Lee of Turlock. Survivors include twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm preceding the rosary. The rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm Thursday at Turlock Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Sacred Heart Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Paramount Park for the excellent care provided to Frank these past seven years.
The family suggests memorial contributions go to Sisters of the Sacred Heart, address is 1301 Cooper St., Turlock, 95380 or the American Heart Association.

Mr. Bettencourt,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and also for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
