Patricia Houlihan Obituary

Patricia was born at Sculthorpe, England to Maryann and Donald Houlihan and was part of a military family.
Patty is survived by her mother, Maryann Houlihan, her sisters Donna (Donald) and Catherine (Carlos) and brother, Robert Houlihan.  Patty leaves behind her nephews Joshua, Michael, Steven, Thomas, Sven and her niece, Virginia and her children, William and Matthew.
Patricia graduated from Atwater High School in 1976.  Upon graduation, she attended special classes at Merced College.  She also worked as a volunteer at the Goodwill Store in Merced.
From there, she began attending Kings View Work Experience where she and her crew were a vital part of the community for 35 years.  Patty also participated in Special Olympics in Lake Tahoe and Berkeley where she met numerous movie stars.
In her younger years, Patty was a Brownie and Girl Scout. During the summer months, she attended Camp Kamawaka, a special needs program, at Castle Park, run by Mr. Lingenfelter and Mrs. Gouthro.  Her two sisters acted as counselors and went on many trips with them.  Patty enjoyed jumping on the trampoline, singing songs, and learning sign language.  Her favorite sign was I LOVE YOU.  She truly enjoyed being a part of this "Special" Group.
Patty went on many picnics to Yosemite Lake, McConnell Park, Henderson Park and Lake McSwain.  Her Dad would always BBQ chicken, which was enjoyed by all.  Her Dad also used to take her bowling and golfing and on annual camping trips with family to places like Santa Cruz, Southern California and the coast.
Patty loved to read books, do crossword puzzles, color and paint, watch TV and listen to her CD's and tapes.  She also enjoyed shopping at the 99 cent store and the Dollar Tree with her sister Donna.  Patty would always buy little treats for her bus driver, her boss or her many friends at the workshop.
Her favorite saying to everyone was "Have a good day everyday."  Patty would steal hugs and kisses from her family, friends, doctors and staff members. Her BIG hugs and kisses will always be "REMEMBERED."
Patty was God's gift to the many people she came into contact with.  She was a very beautiful young lady who would brighten up the room with her smile.  She was generous and caring and will be missed by her family and many friends.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, 3050 Winton Way in Atwater. Not sure what to say?

Patty almost aways had a smile on her face, always did for others. I had the opportunity to work with Patty out at KV WEC. She was a joy to work with and will be missed.

Patty, I knew you through your sister, Donna, since we were in college together. I will always remember the love you and your family had for each other, and the big smile you always had on your face when I saw you. Rest in Peace with our LORD now, and with your Dad.
